Opare Addo on the NDC National Youth Election: "I have not engaged in an election boycott."

Image
George Opare Addo, a.k.a. "Pablo," the National Youth Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has refuted rumors that he has boycotted the current national youth election in Cape Coast. Pablo claims that his opponents are figuring out ways to add voters to the register who were not permitted to cast ballots at the regional level. "I'm here to address a particular complaint. I am aware there are rumors floating around that I withdrew from the election. That is untrue. The committee is tasked with dealing with specific issues. I disputed it when our opponent went to court and said that those persons who were not permitted to vote in the regional election should be added. Delegates lists are produced from the regional election, therefore if you were not permitted to vote in the region, you cannot be put to this register, he explained. Until then, Mr. Opare Addo is expected to keep his job when the party elects a new group of national executives today, Decem

After Brazil's World Cup match against South Korea, a frightening video showing Samuel Eto'o punching an unidentified man outside the stadium has appeared online. Eto'o is believed to have attended the large number of spectators who gathered at Stadium 974 on December 5 on Monday night to watch the round of 16 match. The Barcelona icon, though, appeared to lose his composure soon after the game, as seen by a now-viral video that is making the rounds on social media and showing him kneeing a cameraman in the parking lot.

After defeating Spain, Cameroon FA President Samuel Eto'o Sends Special Message to Morocco

Samuel Eto'o , the president of the Cameroonian Football Federation, congratulated Morocco on being the fourth African nation to advance to the World Cup quarterfinals. After defeating Spain in a penalty shootout on Tuesday, the Atlas Lions shocked the 2010 champions to advance to the round of eight. Yassine Bounou, the goalkeeper for Morocco, made two saves from kicks, and Achraf Hakimi added the cherry on top with a well executed penalty kick. Eto'o, who predicted a Morocco vs. Cameroon final, lauded the North Africans on social media. "History is made. The fourth African team to ever make it to the quarter finals. Bravo Morocco," wrote Eto'o on Twitter .  Only Morocco and three other African nations—Cameroon, Senegal, and Ghana—have advanced to the World Cup's round of eight. Portugal, which defeated Switzerland 6-1, will now play the former African champions in the quarterfinal. Even though Cameroon defeated Brazil and drew with Serbia, they were elimina

After the Uruguay vs. Ghana match, Fifa initiates disciplinary action against the Uruguay FA and four players

Image
Following their behavior at the conclusion of their final World Cup group match against Ghana, the Uruguayan football association and four players have been the subject of disciplinary action by Fifa. Uruguay defeated Ghana 2-0 but lost on goals scored, placing third in Group H behind South Korea. At the end of the game, the Uruguayan players became enraged when the referee failed to give a penalty for a collision between Darwin Nunez and Alidu Seidu. They confronted him and appeared to be assaulting his assistant. For violating Fifa's disciplinary code regarding offensive behavior and misconduct, Jose Maria Gimenez, Edinson Cavani, Fernando Muslera, and Diego Godin could all face sanctions. The Uruguayan FA will be held accountable for the same code violations as well as one involving discrimination. After the game, Valencia forward Cavani was caught on camera pushing over the pitchside monitor as he made his way down the tunnel, prompting ITV analyst Ian Wright to call him a &q

IMF is reconsidering its agreement with Ghana - According to Ricketts-Hagan

Image
The International Monetary Fund (IMF), according to a ranking member of the Parliament's Privileges Committee, is becoming uneasy over the government's request for a bailout. In an interview with JoyNews' The Pulse on Monday, George Kweku Ricketts-Hagan revealed that the delay in the IMF team's visit to the nation is what led to his claim. They were meant to arrive here a while ago, but they never showed up. You can infer from the fact that they just showed up that they are losing heart. They don't want to get married to us, but for some reason—I'm not sure if it's out of pity or something else—they still want to get married to us, he added. Mr. Ricketts-Hagan pointed out that the Finance Minister's initial decision to forego seeking IMF help is also a contributing element. Additionally, he mentioned President Akufo-Addo's plea to the majority of MPs to give Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta some time to reach an agreement with the IMF before he is f
